Battle for the wheat

There has been some limited success. The deer are all over both the front beds so I’m grabbing what I can when I can. This sandwich may be very tiny. 

I know it’s quite late in the year but I’m going to try a 3rd bed and hope that it will be ripe before it freezes over. 

I’ve planted the 3rd in the back yard where the dog hangs out in hopes that the deer will avoid that space. 

 It looks ok so far but I’m worried about light. The back yard is heavily shaded. I think next year I’m going to try oats or barley. 

The lettuce and tomatoes are looking good  I’ve got pickles but not in my vinegar  that’s upcoming.

This weekend I’ll try for cheese attempt #3.
